I'll show you mine, if you show me yours! My favorite books of 2019

Tess Laureen Photography

As a creative entrepreneur, I find that the two hardest challenges for me are staying creative and staying focused. “Creative entrepreneur” almost sounds like a paradox to me some days! 2019 was the year I started reading (again) and this are some of the books that made my favorites list this year that both inspire and motivate me and my business.

Favorite Books for Inspiring the Creative Mind
(Some Fiction, some non-fiction but all Not-Business-Related)

  1. Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts - Seriously, the most beautiful book ever written. And it’s a true story!

  2. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho - Reminds me that we are all unique and are always on the right path.

  3. The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah- A tom boy’s romance novel; if romance to you means living miles away from a city, hunting and gardening enough in summer to survive isolation in winter, and of course, a little murder.

  4. Geek Love by Katherine Dunn - A little weird, but I love weird!

  5. Color by Victoria Finlay - If you’re an art nerd like me, this is a must-read.

Favorite Books for Organizing the Entrepreneurial Mind

  1. Overcoming Underearning by Barbara Stanny - Creates real mental shifts in income and money mindset.

  2. Profit First by Mike Michalowicz - Changed the way I organize my finances.

  3. All Marketers Are Liars (Tell Stories) by Seth Godin - An easy read to wrap your head around the marketing world and give you a few ideas to inspire your own marketing campaigns.

  4. The 5am Club by Robin Sharma - If you’re a florist like me, this title might sound a little silly, but starting your day an hour earlier with a focused personal development agenda has helped me be calmer (aka less-stress!!!), more focused, and live a day (which becomes days, weeks, months… you get the idea) with all things that I need to feel full of purpose and productivity. (Very similar to Miracle Mornings by Hal Elrod)

  5. The Culture Code by Daniel Coyle - Identifies all the “intangibles” that make a team great. Inspiring and easy take-aways for building your own successful teams and every person you come into contact really.

Did any of these make your lists too? Now that I’ve shown you my favorite books, I’d love to know what are yours! Email me anytime! natasha@rosewaterfloral.com
